A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present “Seven Wonders of the World”.  Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

老師讓學生們列出他們所以為的现今“世界七大奇觀”,雖然學生間有些意見不同,但下面是票數最高的幾项:

 

  1. Egypt’s great pyramids 埃及金字塔
  2. Taj Mahal 泰姬瑪哈陵
  3. Grand Canyon 大峡谷
  4. Panama Canal 巴拿馬運河
  5. Empire Sate Building 帝國大厦
  6. St. Peter’s Basilica 聖彼得大教堂
  7. China’s Great Wall 中國長城

 

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student hadn’t turned in her paper yet.  So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

在收集學生投票的時候,老師留意到有一個學生安安靜靜的在那裡,還没有把她的投票交上來。老師就問這個女生,是不是在列表的時候遇到了什麼問题。

 

The girl replied, “Yes, a little.  I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many”. The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and may be we can help.” 

女生回答說:“是的,是有點问题。我發現世界的奇觀有太多太多了,我没辦法决定選哪些。老師说,“那麼,就告訴我們你的想法,看看我們能否帮助你。”

 

The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ are:

這個女生顯得有些猶豫,然後說“我以為‘世界的七大奇觀’是:

 

  1. To see
  2. To hear聽
  3. To touch 觸
  4. To taste 品嚐
  5. To feel 感覺
  6. To laugh 歡
  7. And to love. 和爱

 

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.  The things we overlook as simple, ordinary and take for granted are truly wondrous!

顿時教室變得一片寂静,你似乎可以聽到一根針掉落的聲音。是的,生命中被我們忽視

的那些簡單的,平常的,和以為理所当然的事物卻是真正美妙的!

 

A gentle reminder – that the more precious things in life…cannot be built by hand or brought by man.

一個温柔的提醒,生命中那些非常珍贵的東西,都不能用雙手建造,也不是來自人類本身的……
